These numbers are crazy! One would think with this many new listings (choices for buyers) that prices would drop, That is not at all what happened according to the latest Portland Metro region stats.

Prices are up from both this time last year and from December to January while at the same time the number of homes that saw a big Price drops went up as well.

What has been happening here is the same thing that’s been happening for the last many months and that is that only the very best homes coming on the market get bid way up via multiple offers from buyers while other homes that have issues like being overpriced linger on the market and end up with price drops.

The Takeaway is that buyers are still competing for really great houses new to market and there may be opportunities to snag a house that has been sitting on the market.
